The National Task Force on Ebola has issued eleven (11) resolutions aimed at curbing the spread of Ebola especially from the hardest hit DRC into Uganda.
The resolutions issued on Thursday, 21st May, 2026 include raising public awareness on infection prevention and safety rules for mass gatherings.
To improve screening, testing and treatment along the border with DRC based on risk levels.
The Task Force has temporarily suspended all cultural events and celebrations that attract large crowds along the Uganda-DRC border with immediate effect.
Suspend public transport between Uganda and DRC for four weeks including passenger ferries, cross-border buses but allow transportation of goods only.
Improve death reporter especially along the DRC border and the Kampala Metropolitan area.
All flights between Uganda and DRC to be suspended within 48 hours (from the time the resolutions were issued).
Security to increase border patrols along the DRC especially in high risk areas to reduce illegal crossings.
Suspend all weekly markets in border sub counties of high risk districts for four weeks.
Enforce safety rules in non-weekly markets located in border districts such as schools, hotels, hospitals, prisons and places of worship.
Allow only essential travel from DRC through official border entry points only.
Schools allowed to open as planned following Ministry of Health guidelines with support from local health facilities.
