The body of Timothy Magambo, a son to Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Directorate (CID) boss Maj. Tom Magambo, has been returned to the country amidst somber mood among his family and relatives.

The deceased’s body arrived at Entebbe International Airport at the Cargo terminal side in the wee hours of Wednesday morning on May 26,2026, following his horrible drowning in the United States a week ago.

It’s reported Timothy aged 18, met his creator during a swimming outing in Long Island, New York city.

The arrival of his body was confirmed today May 26, 2026, by Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, now the ex- State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs.

“I wish to inform friends, relatives and well-wishers that we this morning at 2:00am received the remains of our beloved son, Magambo Timothy, who tragically drowned last week in the USA,” Balaam stated.

‘A requiem Mass will be held today at 9:00am at Mbuya Catholic Parish in Kampala.

‘The body will thereafter be transported to Kisarabwire Village in Masindi Municipality, where a vigil will be held at the family home.

‘Burial is scheduled for Thursday at 2:00pm in Kisarabwire, located about 2 kilometres from Masindi Municipality.’

Reports indicate that the deceased had just completed his first year at the University at Albany, New York.

It should be recalled that the deceased met his creator on Saturday, May 16, 2026, when he went swimming with his friends in the waters off Long Island.

Authorities said Timothy had travelled with a group of seven friends from Shelter Island to Wade’s Beach, also known as Shell Beach.

The group later attempted to swim across a channel, during which Timothy became separated from the others.

His friends later realised he was missing and immediately alerted authorities, prompting a search and rescue operation.

His body was later recovered approximately 100 yards from where he was last seen.

Reports further indicate that Timothy had been living with his mother in New York, where she works with the United Nations.
