The Elections Management Committee (EMC) of the National Unity Platform (NUP) Party has officially appointed Hon. Irene Nampala as the National Unity Platform flag bearer for the Kalangala District Woman MP by-election.
The announcement made today, Thursday, May 28, 2026 confirms that Nampala will now tussle it out with an NRM sponsored candidate for the by-election slated for 24th June, 2026.
The by-election follows the untimely demise of the then incumbent, Hon. Hellen Nakimuli who had secured another five year term running up to 2031.
“The EMC has officially appointed Hon. Irene Nampala as the National Unity Platform flag bearer for the Kalangala District Woman MP by-election following the passing of Hon. Hellen Nakimuli. Congratulations upon this important responsibility, and wishing her strength and success in the journey ahead,” reads a NUP statement on X.
