KATAKWI
Students of Priscilla Girls Secondary School in Katakwi district have gone on strike over banned casual wear leaving properties worth millions destroyed.
The strike that took place on Saturday night, 6th June, 2026 saw classrooms, school fence, girls Dormitories broken and other school property whose monetary value is yet to be specified damaged.
Preliminary information suggests that the students went on strike after school authorities banned the wearing of casual attire at school.
Many of the students behind the strike had fled by the time authorities arrived, scattering into the surrounding community.
Police, responded to the scene, secured the premises, and have since launched an investigation.
Efforts to get a comment from administration were futile, however district authorities are considering a temporary closure and today Monday 8th June 2026, the district and stakeholders are set to convene at the school over the strike.
Meanwhile, Katakwi High School head teacher, Joseph Opule has refuted rumours that his students also went on strike after students of Priscilla Girls Comprehensive School rang some students of Katakwi high colleagues to also strike
He noted that four students of Katakwi High school who were detected communicating with those of Pricilla were quickly arrested and are awaiting prosecution.
