Police in Pallisa District have arrested a suspect in connection with the death of Charles Faustine Okonye, 38, following a domestic altercation in Kadoki Village, Akadot Parish.

According to Wilfred Kyempasa, the Bukedi North region police spokesperson, the incident occurred on the night of June 6, 2026, when John Outa, 25, visited his in-laws’ home to check on his wife.

He says a fight broke out between Outa and his brother-in-law, Okonye, resulting in serious injuries to Okonye. He was rushed to Pallisa General Hospital and later referred to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

The DPC Pallisa, SP Patience Namara, together with the District CID, responded to the scene and used the opportunity to sensitize residents on the dangers of mob justice.

Police have arrested Outa and his wife, Rose Apio, to assist with investigations. The body of the deceased has been taken to Mbale City Mortuary for the postmortem examination.

A murder case has been registered at Pallisa CPS under CRB 250/2026, and inquiries are ongoing.

Authorities have commended community members who reported the matter to police instead of taking the law into their own hands.
