Namisindwa District has been selected to host World Contraception Day 2026, with the main event scheduled for Saturday, 26 September 2026, at Magale Town Council Ground.

The event will be held under the theme: “A Choice for All, Agency, Intention, Access.”

According to Namisindwa Woman Member of Parliament, Khalayi Peace, the district was selected to host the event due to the high prevalence of teenage motherhood, which stands at 27 percent, above the national rate of 22 percent.

Khalayi, who is also a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Health, called on the public to embrace and participate in the event. She said the Minister of Health is expected to be the Guest of Honour.

Namisindwa District Chairman, Bwayo Emma said the district has held a series of preparatory meetings to ensure the event is successfully hosted.

Bwayo described the opportunity to host a national event as an honour and said the occasion would also provide a platform for the district to lobby for the upgrading of health facilities, provision of a district ambulance, and improved healthcare services.

He called upon residents and other stakeholders to turn up in large numbers and participate in the celebrations.
