NAMISINDWA

Namisindwa District Local Government has appealed to the Office of the Prime Minister for emergency assistance to households affected by Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) operations near the National Park, as well as those affected by windstorms, landslides and mudslides.

In a letter dated October 13, 2026, addressed to the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, Namisindwa District Chairperson, Emma Bwayo requested support to help affected families recover from the losses and return to normal life.

Bwayo reported that residents living near the National Park in Mukoto, Luwa Town Council, Bupoto Sub County and Tsekululu Sub County had suffered crop and property losses following an operation by UWA officials.

He said the district also frequently experiences disasters, particularly landslides and mudslides, which leave communities in need of urgent humanitarian assistance.

Meanwhile, windstorms have reportedly affected Buwambwa Sub-county, particularly Buwambwa and Bumayayo parishes, leaving several households in need of support.

The district is requesting food and non-food items to help affected families meet their immediate needs and rebuild their lives.

Bwayo commended the Office of the Prime Minister for its previous timely responses to disasters in the district and expressed hope that the latest request would receive a positive response.

The letter was received by the Office of the Prime Minister on October 15, 2026, for further action.

Bugisu leaders including MPs, LC5s, RDCs and CAOs will be meeting the Prime Minister on 20th October.
