MBALE
Twenty homes in Buyango village, Buyango parish, Busano Sub County in Mbale district have been destroyed by rolling rocks following heavy rains on Saturday 12th November 2022.
This was revealed by Muhamed Mafabi, the LC5 chairperson of Mbale district yesterday in an exclusive phone interview with his reporter.
Mafabi said as a result over 50 residents are now homeless and most of their crops like maize, bananas, coffee and cassava among others destroyed.
He revealed that those rocks have been hanging on the cliff for long and he has been calling upon government to blast them but no response has been given.
The LC5 adds that as rains continue, more hanging rocks are in the mountainous sub counties of Bubyangu, Bufumbo and Busano saying that more disaster is expected unless government responds by blasting them.
Some of the affected people urged government under ministry of disaster preparedness to support them with relief items like food, tarpaulins, among others since their houses and crops have been destroyed.
