Shock engulfed Bukhaweka Town Council in Namisindwa District as one of the area businessmen was shot by unknown thugs making off with Shs8M.
According to Anthony Mwanyi, the LCIII chairperson of Bukhaweka town council, Martin Wakhabu was shot in the legs and injured on Friday night, 27th January, 2023 while going back home from his shop at Bukhaweka trading centre.
He says that they are still hunting for the assailants and that the injured person is currently getting treatment at Mbale regional referral hospital.
Kenneth Womatabo, one of the area residents urged local leaders to crack down on idle youths in the area that they suspect are the ones causing this insecurity in the area.
Frederick Bango, the Namisindwa Resident District Commissioner confirmed the incident saying they have launched an investigation to arrest people who were behind this and recover the gun used in the robbery.
