The State Minister of Karamoja Affairs Hon. Agnes Nandutu has been remanded to Luzira Prison until 3/05/2023.
Nandutu was charged of Dealing with Suspect Property following the diversion of Iron sheets meant for the Karachunas in Karamoja Subregion. She is the 3rd Minister to be charged for their involvement in the scandal.
“I admit I have been baptised with fire but I’m firm. However, why commit me to High Court for trial when the lower (Anti-Corruption) court has the mandate to handle this case?” -State Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Agnes Nandutu told the media present.
The Director of Public Prosecutions sanctioned prosecution of Minister of State for Karamoja Affairs, Agnes Nandutu early today.
Consequently, the Minister who spent the night at Kiira Road Police Cells was this morning, 19th April, 2023 presented to the Anti-Corruption Court.
Nandutu who arrived at the Anti – corruption Court about an hour ago however, looked jovial and was smiling and waving to bystanders.
She will be joining, the Minister of State for Planning, Amos Lugoloobi who will be reappearing in court tomorrow, 20th April, 2023 for hearing of his bail application.
Nandutu handed herself over to police yesterday, where additional statements were taken from her and later detained as her file was sent to the DPP for sanctioning.
