MBALE CITY
The former Principal Assistant Town Clerk of Industrial City Division in Mbale City and now Assistant Deputy Town Clerk has accused the Mbale City Clerk of deliberately refusing to deploy him after being promoted.
Robert Wambende, who spoke to this reporter last week says in the month of April, 2023, he was promoted and transferred to Mbale city as Assistant Deputy Town Clerk but the City Town Clerk, Ambrose Ochen has refused to allow him assume office over unknown reasons.
He adds that he has tried to hold talks with the town clerk but all has been in vain saying he is now planning to go to higher offices for a solution.
However, while speaking to the media yesterday morning, 2nd May, 2023 at his office, Ochen dismissed Wambede’s claims saying nobody has stopped Wambede from assuming office.
He says that Wambende has been at the rank of Principal Assistant Town Clerk whereby he was promoted from city division to office of City Town Clerk.
Ochen argued however that since Kenneth Khatuli, the former assistant deputy town clerk was promoted and transferred to Jinja, that position was left vacant and the Ministry of local government advertised it.
The City Town Clerk says that Robert Wambende, Kasimu Waboga, and Aaron Mulyanyuma applied and were shortlisted and that soon they are going for interviews such that a suitable person can occupy that vacant position.
He urged him to challenge this matter in the courts of law if he is not satisfied with what the government did.
