Mbale Resident City Commissioner, Rex Achelan has cautioned farmers about fake agricultural inputs on the black market.

He made these remarks yesterday on Friday, 5th May, 2023 at Wash and Wills Hotel during the awarding of prizes to the best local artists in Bugisu region who compose songs in local languages about fake agro-inputs.

The fake and fake competition was organized by Feed the future in partnership with the United Nations with the aim of fighting fake products on the market.

According to Achelan, farmers should always report agriculture dealers who sell them fake agriculture products to police with evidence such that they can be arrested and charged.

Collin Apuoyo, one of the staff from Feed the Future, says that the purpose of organizing this competition was to get the best song that they are going to use in preaching the gospel to people on different media platforms about fake products.

He says that the best artist was given Shs3million, second best got Shs2million while the others received 500,000/= shillings each.

Sam Welikhe AK Bwasha a staff at Elgon Fm who was among the competitors but emerged in second position expressed his happiness with the prize and urged his fellow young local artists to trust God saying everything will come in their life.

He also urged the public to avoid fake products which are on the market such that they can avoid the losses they incur.
