The Commander of Mountain Division, Major General Dick Olum has given more details on how ADF rebels burnt, hacked to death and raped students of Lhubirira Secondary.

While addressing residents this afternoon, Olum says the ADF rebels came from the direction of Kasindi Port and hid in the area for two days before carrying out the attack.

He also delved into the details of the attack saying the rebels with the aid of an informer knew the boys dormitory and went their first and locked the door from outside.

“Some three boys tried to force the door open but soon lost energy since smoke from a lit mattress was already engulfing them,” he said.

He said most of the boys were burnt to death while the girls whose dormitory door was open were raped, others hacked to death and some abducted.

We had earlier reported this;

The Allied Democratic Force rebels have in a terrorist attack killed 25 students of Lhubirira Secondary School in Mpondwe, 2 kilometers from the DRC border.

The attack that has been confirmed by Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson, took place on the night of Friday, 16th June, 2023.

Enanga says the ADF rebels burnt one dormitory and looted a food store.

The 25 bodies and 8 critically injured students have been taken to Bwera Hospital.

The ADF attackers retreated to Virunga National Park where they are being pursued by a joint force of UPDF and police.
