National Drug Authority has warned Ugandans against consuming L-Power Coffee saying it is adulterated with Tadalafil, an erectile dysfunction prescription drug.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, 22nd August 2023, NDA warns that Tadalafi has serious side effects including respiratory & cardiac complications.
“We order for immediate stop of sale & consumption of this product,” NDA says in the statement.
According to NDA, Tadalafil is a drug for erectile dysfunction which must be used under strict instructions by a qualified medical personnel because it has serious side effects such as extreme respiratory and cardiac problems, urinary disorders and sometimes leading to coma and death.
The NDA says they intercepted an imported consignment of L-Power which was concealed as a nutritional supplement and consequently sent samples to their Laboratory where it was discovered that the drink is adulterated with Tadalafil.
“We hereby direct all Pharmacies, Drug Shops, Supermarkets, Online shops or any drug and nutritional supplements dealers to stop with immediate effect the stocking, sale, distribution of L-Power Coffee,” the statement warns.
