There’s tension at Namisindwa district after a 27-year-old man chopped off his wife’s head over allegations of adultery.
The suspect is identified as Vincent Bwayo a resident of Watoko village , Butingu parish, Bumali Sub County in Namisindwa district.
According to Nicolas Nasaala one of the area residents, Bwayo committed the crime on Friday night, 15th September 2023.
Nasaala adds that Bwayo has been accusing his wife known as Justine Wachemba aged 23 years of age several times for being in love with a neighbor identified as James Musoba.
Julie Namara, the deputy Resident District istrict Commissioner of Namisindwa has confirmed the incident saying Bwayo is currently detained at Namisindwa police station.
She says that Bwayo chopped off the head of his wife at River Salaa bridge last night on the way while taking her to the alleged lover, Musoba.
After the incident he abandoned the body on the bridge and carried the head to the door of Musoba and later handed himself to Namisindwa police station where he is detained.
By press time the head and other part of the deceased had been taken to Mbale city mortuary for postmortem.
Roger Taitika the Elgon region police spokesperson declined to pick our call after being contacted to give us a comment.
