There was shock in Butalaja district this morning, 4th October, 2023 after a suspected thief was lynched by an angry mob of residents.
The deceased is known as Lawrence Ndazulu aged 35 years of age and a resident of Bibingi B village, Bibingi parish, Nawanjofu Sub County in Butaleja district.
According to Yowasi Hiyaga, the LCI chairperson of Bibingi B village, locals got items like mattresses, solar panels among other things at the home of Ndazulu in an impromptu search after an unknown thief broke into a home of one resident last night.
He adds that after getting those items locals armed with pangas, and sticks lynched Ndazulu.
Moses Johnson Mugwe, the police spokesperson of Bukedi south region has confirmed the incident saying the body has been taken to Mbale city mortuary for postmortem.
He warned locals against taking laws in their hands saying they should always hand suspects to police and be taken to courts of laws.
