KCCA Football Club Fires Head Coach, Deputy

Kampala City Council Authority football club has fired both the head coach and his deputy for reasons yet to be disclosed.

 

In a press release dated 24th October, 2023 by the Club’s Board Chairman, Eng. Sserunjogi Andrew Mukiibi, Sergio Daniel Moniz Traguil mutually parted ways on 24th October and with immediate effect.

 

The axe has not spared the Assistant Manager, Luis Manuel Correira Guerreiro as well whose contract with the club has been terminated in the same communication.

 

Meanwhile, the First Team Coach, Jackson Magera Kaddu now takes charge of all first team duties and that of head coach with immediate effect.

Traguil was appointed as the head coach of KCCA FC on 12th June this year, taking over reigns from Jackson Mayanja, who had assumed the coaching role on interim basis since April 19th, 2023.

 

Sergio, a Portuguese by birth is also a holder of degree in Sports Science and Physical Education. He also studied Sports Psychology at Rio Major School of Sport.

 

Sergio started his coaching career at Sports Lisboa e Benfica where he was in charge of the Club’s youth teams before joining Kaduna United in Nigeria.

 

He has previously coached at Hearts of Oak (Ghana), Singida Big Stars (Tanzania), CD Lunda Sul (Angola), Vilankulos (Mozambique), Mirbat SC (Oman), Kabuscorp SC (Angola), Santa Rita CFC (Angola) and recently Township Rollers FC (Botswana).
