In a heartbreaking announcement, the Ugandan football community is grieving the loss of Darius Mugoye, the 2nd Vice President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).
Mugoye passed away on Tuesday morning at Mengo Hospital, FUFA has confirmed.
Mugoye, known for his dedicated service and invaluable contributions to FUFA, and the broader football landscape, also served the game under the reign of Dr Lawrence Mulindwa.
FUFA has said that details regarding the late’s funeral arrangements will be disclosed soon.
Mugoye, this year, was outstanding as East Africa won the AFCON 2027 hosting bid, having been selected earlier on by the Federation on an eight-man committee to oversee the Pamoja bid.
Mugoye served as the proprietor of the lower Division side, St. Mary’s New Hope FC that competes in Lower Division, a team that is affiliated to St. Mary’s SS in Nabweru where he was the Director.
The untimely passing of Mr. Darius Mugoye marks a significant loss for the FUFA community and beyond.
His commitment and passion for the development of football in Uganda will be remembered and cherished.
Mourning the loss, Rtd AIGP, Asan Kasingye says, “It’s a dark cloud following the demise of FUFA VP Darius Mugoye. We have lost a man who has contributed immensely to the development of football in Uganda. My condolences go to the football fraternity.”
