The Opposition political Party, Justice Forum (JEEMA) has blasted the National Unity Platform (NUP) Party President for the remarks he made in a BBC interview regarding the recently passed Anti-Homosexuality Law.
While appearing on the interview, Robert Kyagulanyi a.k.a Bobi Wine said the Anti-homosexuality law was brought by President Museveni to target him.
Kyagulanyi also accused opposition MPs for working with President Museveni in passing the Bill.
The Bill was moved by JEEMA’s President, Asuman Basalirwa and was supported by over 95% of the Members of Parliament across the political divide including NUP MPs.
In a letter dated 4th December, 2023 and authored by JEEMA’s Secretary General, Katerega Mohamed, JEEMA says they are very disappointed with the accusations and demand a retraction of the statements.
“We call upon you to retract your accusations and demonstrate your commitment to fostering a culture of respect and cooperation with fellow leaders,” says the letter.
JEEMA that says they believed in the Bill warn Kyagulanyi against demonizing other political leaders simply because he supports homosexuality.
“Mr. Ssentamu you have the right to support homosexuality without demonizing your fellow leaders who have treated you with respect since they came to know you,” Katerega says.
The leader is also copied to Heads of Political Parties and the Leader of Opposition.
