Nation Media, the proprietor of Daily Monitor, NTV Uganda, Enyanda local Newspaper, Spark Tv, The East African Newspaper, and Kfm has announced the closure of Dembe Fm.
According to the official announcement dated 14th December, 2023, Nation Group says, the FM radio that has been operating on Channel 90.4 shall have no programming for the foreseeable future.
Management, according to the announcement is re-evaluating the viability of the radio station as a business concern.
By Thursday evening, the station was only playing music and running adverts.
Dembe FM is arguably the oldest Luganda radio station in the country. It was initially owned by tycoon Karim Hirji before the Nation Media bought it rebranding it into a Luganda entertainment radio targeting the female audience.
