Police in East Kyoga have arrested and detained four people in connection to the theft of 25 computers at Kagwara Seed Secondary School in Kabulabula Parish, Kabulabula Sub County in Serere District.
The four have been identified as the Head teacher, Muhammed Gule, Ronald Eseso, David Opio, and Michael Okiror.
According to East Kyoga police spokesperson Oscar Gregg Ageca, on 8th December, 2023 around midday, the cleaner of Kagwara SEED Secondary School noticed the door of the computer laboratory tampered with.
Ageca says in today’s statement, 23rd February, 2024 that it was later confirmed that the school laboratory was broken into on the night of Friday, December 7, 2023.
“It was at this time that it was realized that 25 computers had been stolen. Inquiry into the matter by the police noted that only CPUs and monitors were taken; the keyboards were all left behind, and the school laboratory was broken into on the night of Friday, December 8, 2023” He noted in a press statement.
He says that following the discovery, the head teacher of the school and the cleaner who was acting as the Askari at that time were arrested in December 2023 and were issued bonds as the matter was being investigated.
Ageca added that the investigation team shall continue to monitor all leads into the disappearance of these computers to ensure the culprits are brought to book.
