A 48 year old peasant of Obaru Cell, Ombokolo Ward, Ajia Sub County, Vurra county in Arua district has been arrested for killing his wife after she denied him sex.
The suspect, Agunda James is now being accused for the murder by assault, of his wife, Chandiru Judith, aged 23, on the night of 1st March, 2024.
According to SCP Fred Enanga, the facts gathered indicate that the couple has been sharing their marital bed but without sexual intercourse after the victim accused her husband of having extra marital affairs.
During the night of 1.03.2024, the suspect picked a quarrel with the wife, and she left the bed for him and slept down on another mattress.
This angered the husband who followed and grabbed her, then hit her around the ribs. The victim fell down on the floor and succumbed to the injuries.
The suspect went and handed himself over to the police. The scene was documented and the body of the victim examined, and handed over to the relatives for burial.
SCP Enanga in a statement reminds everybody that every spouse, partner or lover has a right to life, which has to be respected instead of taking the law in one’s hands.
