A Land Cruiser Prado UBC 611C belonging to the new Luwero COU Bishop and driven by Kenneth Manyire has this morning, 20th March 2024 been involved in a fatal accident where it knocked dead a boda boda rider.
According to a statement issued by ASP Twiineamazima Sam, PRO Savannah, the fatal accident occurred at around 11:2OAM at MILE 20 BOMBO along the Gulu Kampala Highway.
He says the accident involved motor vehicle registration number UBC 611C Land Cruiser Prado and unknown motorcycle that claimed a life of one identified as Matovu Hassan, a 39 year old resident of Nakatonya, Sedetula, Nyimbwa in Luwero District.
Preliminary information indicates that at about 11:20AM at mile 20 Bombo, the LAND CRUISER PRADO being driven by Manyire and being led by a leading police vehicle to go and bring the New Bishop of Luwero Church of Uganda, the driver overtook the lead car and went ahead and knocked a bodaboda cyclist.
The victim was rushed to Bombo General Military hospital where he shortly passed on.
After the accident Manyire drove ahead at mile 19 Bombo, parked and reported the accident and decided to run away but the Traffic at checkpoint with the help of the commander of the Police lead car and crew chased him, arrested and is detained at Bombo Police Station.
Venerable Canon Wilson Kisekka the Bishop Elect of Luwero Diocese was to be picked ahead of his consecration and enthronement on Sunday.
