There was shock in Namisindwa today Tuesday, 9th April when angry locals lynched a suspected turkey thief.
The deceased is identified as Peter Namaswa aged 30 years and a resident of Bumurumbi village, Bumoyayu Parish, Namboko Sub County in Namisindwa district.
According to Safu Sitangi, one of the local residents, Namaswa was caught with turkeys suspected to have been stolen from neighbors.
He says that locals started beating him using stones, bricks, and sticks but he was able to save him and rushed him to Nakhupa Health Center III. He unfortunately died at the gate due to over bleeding after sustaining a deep cut on the head.
Julie Namara, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Namisindwa has confirmed the incident and condemned the act.
She cautioned people in the area against holding laws in their hands saying they should always use police and local leaders to report such cases.
