The Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) has gazetted and adopted new titles effective 5th April, 2024.

The adoption follows the official launch of the UPDF Establishment 2021 on 17th February, 2024 by President Museveni who is also the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.

“The adoption and use of new titles follows the degazetting of the old and gazetting of the new offices as per the UPDF Establishment 2021,” reads a statement issued on Monday, 8th April, 2024 by Felix Kulaigye the now Defence Public Information Officer (DPIO).

Some of the new office titles are; Chief of Joint Staff (CJS) replacing Joint Chief of Staff, Joint Staff Human Resource Management (JS-HRM) in place of Chief of Personnel and Administration (CPA).

Others are; Defence Intelligence and Security (DIS) replacing Chief of Military Intelligence (CMI), Joint Staff of Logistics (JS-Log) formerly Chief of Logistics and Engineering (CLE), Joint Staff Training and Doctrine (JS-TRADOC) formerly Chief of Training and Recruitment.

The DPIO says more titles will be communicated to the general public as and when required.
