Police has given an update on what exactly transpired at Equity Bank, Soroti City branch on the night of 23rd April, 2024.
“On Tuesday, 23.04.2024, an attempt was made to rob Equity Bank in Soroti City. Our joint task team from the police and UPDF responded swiftly and staged at the bank,” says the statement released by police this afternoon, 23rd April, 2024.
Police says that their preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects escaped from the scene after failing to access the banking hall.
“No one was hurt, and no property or money was stolen,” says the statement adding that a security guard and his supervisor are being interrogated as part of their investigations.
“The bank is safe, and its operations are back to normal. The general security situation in Soroti city remains peaceful and calm. More updates will be communicated in due course,” reads the statement.
