President William Ruto has today, 2nd May, 2024 promoted Lt Gen Charles Muriu Kahariri to the rank of General, and appointed him the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF).
Lieutenant General Charles Muriu Kahariri was appointed the Vice Chief of the Defence Forces, Kenya Defence Forces on 09 March 2024.
He enlisted in the Kenya Defence Forces on 03 Apr 1987 and was commissioned as an Officer (Second Lieutenant) on 15 April 1988.
His appointment follows the death of General Ogolla who died in a helicopter crash on 18th April, 2024 at Elgeyo Marakwet alongside nine others.
