Mbale city Police is currently holding a 50 year old man over allegations of fingering his granddaughter in an attempt to arouse her before penetration.
The suspect is identified as Bakali Waguwale, a businessman and a resident of Bugema B Cell, Industrial City Division in Mbale City.
According to SP Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson, Waguwale convinced his 12 year granddaughter into his house on Tuesday, 11th June, 2024 where he attempted to defile her from.
Taitika says that Waguwale first sent other children to go and buy sweets and chapati at a nearby shop leaving him alone with the victim in the house.
“When other children had gone to buy chapati and sweets, he closed the house and pushed his finger into the minor to test whether she was large enough to accommodate his private part and arouse her feelings before defiling her,” says Taitika.
The victim however, made an alarm which attracted neighbors after feeling pain who in turn arrested him and handed him to Nauyo Police Post.
By press time, the suspect was at Mbale central police station waiting to appear in Courts of law to answer charges of aggravated defilement.
