SOROTI CITY
The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) water plant at Awoja Bridge in Soroti City has temporarily been shut down.
This was revealed by the Soroti area Manager, Peter Ebwaat this morning, 4th July, 2024 urging their clients residing in Soroti Town, Amuria, Kalaki, and Kaberamaido to use the available water in their tanks sparingly.
He said they were hit by a significant rupture in their Transmission Line that occurred overnight prompting them to shut down the system this morning to prevent water loss and facilitate the repair process.
“This incident has had a direct impact on production and water distribution during the night,” Ebwaat says.
He however said a team of engineers from Soroti and Mbale are on the ground to restore the system within 24 hours.
“We kindly request all customers to utilize water conservatively while we carry out these critical repairs over the next 24 hours and allow time for the concrete to solidify,” he said.
The National Water and Sewerage Corporation supplies water to 8000 households which are connected to the Awoja plant currently.
