The police of Soroti City west are investigating a case of attempted Murder and Arson of one Conzy Amola, a 24 year old resident of Opiyai ‘B’ cell, Opiyai Ward, Eastern Division Soroti city.
This incident took place on Tuesday, 24/09/2024 at around 4:00AM in Opiyai ‘B’ cell, Opiyai Ward Eastern Division Soroti City.
Edson Obukulem, the East Kyoga Police Acting Spokesperson confirmed this and identified the suspect as Wakabi Eliot of about 30yrs old.
He said police was notified by Christine Alemo and the matter was then registered vide CRB 160/2024 of Soroti City West and the police responded to the scene.
“Its alleged that on the 24/09/2024 at around 0400/c, the suspect tip- toed with a bottle of petrol to the victim’s rented grass thatched house where he dropped the said bottle inside the house and immediately set fire on the house and ran away leaving the victim inside the house thinking she had died,” said Obukulem.
He added that the victim sustained burn injuries on the face, hands, chest abdomen and other parts of the body. However, she was rescued by Good Samaritan who rushed her to Soroti regional referral hospital where she is currently admitted.
“Preliminary findings shows that the suspect has been in a relationship with the victim which went sour and they separated making the suspect to utter words of threats to kill or harm the victim in case she dumped him .The victim at some point reported the matter to the area chairman LC 1 who tried to handle but failed and did not forward to Police”, added by Obukulem.
However, No arrest has been made yet since the suspect is on the run.
