Nabilatuk police are holding a 25-year-old man accused of sodomizing a nine-year-old boy.
The suspect identified as Maracello Asio, a casual worker, and resident of Lokapel Junction village, Lorengedwat Sub-county was arrested on Thursday, 10th October, 2024.
The victim is a pupil of Lokapel Rise and Shine Community School.
It is alleged that on the night of Wednesday, the suspect had anal sex with the victim while in the house where they were sleeping together.
The victim was sleeping only to wake up and realize that the suspect was having anal sex with him.
The minor tried to make an alarm but the accused threatened to cut his neck.
Michael Longole, the Mt. Moroto regional police spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating that a case of aggravated Homosexuality was registered and the suspect is in Police custody.
Longole said that statements of the relatives about the matter were recorded, and the victim was examined as more inquiries are still ongoing.
In March 2024, the Ugandan Parliament passed a new bill that criminalizes homosexuality and imposes life sentences for consensual same-sex conduct among adults.
