There was shock at Nalutungu village, Bukalasi Sub County in Bududa district after a 23 year old man hanged himself from the verandah of his father’s house after the latter refused to allow him sell a plot of land to buy a Bajaj motorcycle.
The deceased, George Namatati, did the unthinkable on Thursday morning 17th October, 2024.
According to Stephen Mandu, one of the area residents, on Wednesday evening the deceased had a bitter quarrel with his father known as Peter Musindi.
He says that Namatati wanted his father to give him a piece of land to sell in order to buy a motorcycle for boda boda but his father was hesitant.
Mandu adds that Namatati threatened to hang himself from father’s house as a way of showing bitterness and they thought he was joking.
“Unfortunately he fulfilled the threats when today early morning, we found his body dangling on the roof of the house belonging to his father,” says Mandu.
SP Rogers Taitika the Elgon region police spokesperson confirmed the incident saying the body was taken to Mbale city mortuary for postmortem.
