Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has announced increment in Car Parking Fees at Entebbe International Airport.

This was revealed in a Press statement issued Monday, 21st October, 2024 signed off by Vianney Luggya, manager Public Affairs at the Authority.

The new rates due to take effect on 1st November, 2024 are for short stay parking; Saloon cars and Station Wagons-5,000 for the first hour.

Vans and Minibuses will be charged Shs8,000 for the first hour meanwhile, Lorries, Trucks, Trailers and Buses will pay Shs10,000 for the first hour.

The charge for any hour(s) exceeding will be required to pay additional Shs1,000 for each extra hour across all vehicle categories.

Long Term Parking will see all vehicle categories pay Shs30,000 for the first day and while additional days will attract a fee of Shs10,000 for each extra day not exceeding 30 days.

UCAA says, there will be a punitive charge for any car that is parked beyond 30 days and that will be Shs200,000 for each day subsequent day.

The changes reflect a nearly hundred percent increase from the old rates that for instance saw Saloon and Station Wagons pay Shs2,000 for the first hour for short term parking.

However, reacting to comments that the increase is too huge, UCAA replies thus;

“The current fee structure has remained unchanged for over 15 years. This long-standing rate, coupled with rising maintenance costs over time, justifies the recent increment. Regular updates to these fees are necessary to ensure the continued upkeep and enhancement of the parking area for the benefit of all airport users.”
