MBALE CITY
Mbale city authorities have put on hold the release of Parish Development Model money phase III to five SACCOs over irregularities in registering beneficiaries.
The PDM SACCOs are Bulweta, Nanjoza, Bumuluya and Nabuyonga all located in the Northern City Division in Mbale City.
This was revealed by Halima Nabukosa, the Mbale City PDM Focal Person while speaking during a meeting with PDM beneficiaries at Nanjoza primary school on Tuesday, 22nd October, 2024.
Nabukosa says that those SACCOs have not got PDM money for the third phase because their lists have irregularities.
Asumin Nasike, the RCC Mbale City revealed the irregularities that include having family members in one list, inclusion of non-residents and those included after paying bribes which she says contravene the laws relating to the PDM Program.
She says that they have moved to all the four SACCOs and have discovered similar problems and advised the leaders to edit or change the lists before submitting to the office of the town clerk so that the money can be released.
Hadija Nagudi and Silaji Nabugodi, some of the beneficiaries at Nanjoza PDM SACCO embraced the halting of the payments saying this is going to help the leaders to submit real names rather than fake names they had put on the earlier lists.
