KAMPALA
A 22 year old Sironko man became the only fatality after two boats collided in Lake Victoria on Sunday night, 1st December, 2024 at about 9:00PM.
According to Police Spokesperson, ACP Rusoke Kituuma, the deceased, Wangoda Emmanuel was among revelers who were traveling back to Ggaba Beach on Lake Victoria after a performance at Divine Beach.
Rusoke says that during their journey, journey, their boat collided with another causing their boat to capsize.
People at Ggaba Beach heard cries for help and rushed to assist.
“While the victims were rescued, one person identified as Wangoda Emmanuel a 22 year old from Sironko District died from the accident and his body has today (Monday, 2nd December) been retrieved by the Police Marine unit,” says Rusoke.
Police urges the public to exercise caution during this period and recommend that individuals maintain emergency contact numbers for police and other government agencies for any incidents requiring assistance.
