There was excitement at Entebbe International Airport as management of Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) added a South Sudan owned Premier Airlines to its fleet of air operators.
The 80 seater aircraft touched down at Entebbe international airport on November 5, 2024, at half past midday with passengers on board and it was welcomed with water salutes.
The General Manager for Entebbe international airport, Col. Emmanuel Balungi believes that the addition of premier airlines is a clear indication that the airport is growing as well as the aviation industry.
Col. Emmanuel Balungi revealed that the arrival of premier airlines brings the total number of air operators to 20 airlines.
“The more airlines, the more business to our airport. We are expanding the airport facilities to be able to accommodate more air operators,” Mr. Balungi noted adding that it is an addition to the fleet of air operators at Entebbe International Airport.
The Ambassador of the Republic of South Sudan to Uganda, Margret Apuol Daniel who officiated the inauguration ceremony of Premier Airlines, says the arrival of premier airlines shows an improved relationship between her country and that of Uganda.
‘Certainly I thank the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority for the approval of our airline company. The operations between the two countries imply improved bilateral ties. Our airline will operate three times a week: Monday, Thursday and Saturday. Our clients should expect convenient flights,’ Ambassador Margret revealed.
The Senior Manager Premier Airlines, Mr. Isaac Chol is very optimistic that Premier Airlines will create a number of opportunities for both South Sudanese and Ugandans.
‘Our airline would enhance the movement of people between the two countries. Our aircraft has four business classes, ‘Mr. Chol disclosed.
The Representative of Premier Airlines from South Sudan, Faud Khalif said the airline would not disappoint the Uganda civil aviation authority who gave premier airline approval to operate at Entebbe International Airport and assured passengers reliable flights.
The General manager Menzies Aviation, Mary Efata said as ground handlers by premier airlines coming on board imply many routes are opening to Uganda. She urged management of Premier Airlines to observe the set guidelines required for all airline operators.
