Tension flared at NSSF building commonly known as Workers house as hundreds of workers fled the building this morning, Wednesday, 11th December, 2024 over a possible fire outbreak.
The situation was compounded by a continuous alarm and security personnel guarding the premises ordering all workers from different agencies to vacate the building for safety of their lives.
The worrying situation compelled the intervention of police fire brigade unit that combed the building in search of the suspected danger.
All office work was brought to standstill but later after an hour, the situation was normalized.
In a debrief , the police fire brigade unit commander told stranded workers that one of the staff at the eighth floor had left a flat iron plugged in the electric circuit and it was producing a lot of smoke causing alarm within the building facility.
Currently work has resumed in all offices.
