Local Council One Chairpersons throughout Uganda are to receive Tablets used by Uganda Bureau of Standards (UBOS) in the 2024 National Housing and Population Census.
This has been confirmed by a brief statement issued by UBOS on Monday, December 16, 2024 saying the tablets allocated to the LCs are to strengthen PDM activities to ensure the availability of timely data.
The gadgets have been handed over to the Ministry of Communication, ICT and National Guidance.
UBOS has a total of 60,247 tablets, 36,000 will be dispatched to the electoral commission, 23, 897 will be dispatched to LC1s and 350 to Operation Wealth Creation. Meanwhile, Sub County Community Development Officers will receive 1,496.
Town Council CDOs get 580, City Division CDOs get 25, District IT Officers 181, District Statisticians also 181.
In May, 2024, the Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Chris Baryomunsi said that the UBOS gadgets were to be given to parish chiefs at the end of the census exercise, to aid Parish Development Model (PDM) work.
