NAMISINDWA

Armed thugs have gang raped a 38 year old businesswoman in Bumwalya Cell, Kamusayi Ward, Bumbo Town Council in Namisindwa district before robbing her of Shs10M.

The shocking incident took place on the night of Tuesday, 17th December, 2024 with locals discovering her in the morning tied with ropes inside her shop.

Oliver Khayiyi, the victim told our reporter that unknown gang of six people broke into her shop at 2:00am where she is staying and asked her to undress by force before raping her.

She says that after all the six using her sexually, they again demanded money but when she refused they beat and threatened to kill her until she later gave them 10 million shillings.

According to Khayiyi, she can identify the suspects since they are youth from the same area.

Simon Wefunya, one of the area residents, also a neighbor to the victim, says that they never heard any alarm otherwise, they would have saved her.

He says that this time as they head towards festival time, they are getting serious insecurity problems which security leaders need to address.

Ronald Wekunya, the LCI General Secretary of Bumwalya cell confirmed the incident saying they have already alerted police.

He says that they need to take the victim to test for HIV/AIDs and remove excess sperms from her since she was used by six men.

Wekunya says that use of drugs by idle youths must be the main reason for this incident urging security to take this matter seriously.

Getting a comment from Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson was futile after not picking our repeated calls.

By press time, police had not yet reached the scene of crime.
