Journalists in Teso and Karamoja sub regions on Monday 16th, Dec 2024 kicked off the farm journalists’ tour.
This comes as a fulfilment of President Museveni’s pledge on mindset change.
Recently President Museveni during his Parish Development Model tour in Teso pledged the support of Shs100m and 28 sheep to Teso journalists in order to improve their livelihoods.
Among the journalists on the farm tour are radio reporters, print and television journalists.
Mr. Samuel Odongo, the chairperson of Teso journalists told this publication that the journalists from the two regions of Teso and Karamoja will visit farms of successful farmers in the region of Karamoja which include Amudat and Nakapiripirit, Serere, Ngora in Teso sub region, Kibuku in Bukedi, Hoima, and finally the President’s farm.
“This journalist farm tour will take four days and it’s sponsored by the State House”, said Mr. Odongo.
On Monday in Amudat and Nakapiripirit district, journalists visited Amos Orembus, a successful farmer who shared his success story on how he started farming by rearing hens but currently having a big number of highbred goats and sheep.
Mr. Orembus who’s 25 years old multiplied his farm after receiving 1million parish development model money and he was later rewarded with five million shillings by His excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
“I started this project by rearing hens and when I received PDM, it supported me and now I am planning to go Bukedea market to add my goats and sheep with the reward I got from the President”, said Mr. Orembus.
Mr. Richard Rwamuhanga, the lead state house official said government is committed to change the lives of people starting with the mindset change.
“We are here in Amudat to learn and being the fourth estate, you have a vital role to play in disseminating information to our people”, said Mr. Rwamuhanga.
