A Primary School Head Teacher in Masaka district has been charged and remanded to prison on allegations of inflating pupil numbers at his school.
Welishe Robert, the Head Teacher, Butale Church of Uganda Primary School was arraigned before the Masaka Chief Magistrate Court on charges of providing false information on 18th December, 2024.
According to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, Welishe between February and May 2024, being a Head teacher of Butale C.O.U Primary School submitted wrong information of the pupil enrollment records to the Masaka City Education Officer.
He informed the Masaka City Education Officer that, 423 UPE Students had been enrolled which was not true, an act he knew would cause financial loss to govt.
He has been remanded until Monday, 23rd December, 2024.
