The Mayor of Entebbe Division ‘B’, Richard Sekyondo has apologized to Taxi Park operators over delayed completion and reopening of Kitooro Taxi Park.

The Division Mayor made the apology on January 22, 2025 during the official reopening of the eagerly awaited Kitooro Taxi Park.

He noted that it is so absurd that the taxi park whose construction began in 2017 has just been completed in 2025 yet the construction was meant to take three years.

Mayor in his disappointment said:

‘The construction started in 2017 and we expected the park to be complete by 2019. However in 2022, constructions stalled due to altercation between the Scalford contractors and municipal council, emanating from delayed release of funds.  Next time, we don’t want this to happen again because it’s a sign of being unserious. I therefore, I apologize to you to forgive us and the contractor, ‘Mayor Sekyondo apologized to tenants and taxi operators.

He revealed that the construction of Kitooro taxi was funded by Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure development (USMID) and the government of Uganda.  He however appealed to taxi park users to take care of the facilities.

He also asked Entebbe municipal to charge tenants friendly charges to avoid abandonment of the facility just like what happened to Kitooro market –which has over 200 empty Lock Ups and 100 empty stalls.

The Entebbe Municipality mayor Fabrice Brad Rulinda credited his predecessor Vincent Kayanja for starting the construction of Kitoro Taxi Park and also challenged the taxi park users to use the facility for the right purpose.

The Entebbe Municipal council Town clerk, Emmanuel Gacharo Mugisha, urged tenants to pay rent in time to avoid interruptions.
