The State Minister for Foreign Affairs Okello Oryem has confirmed that Uganda’s embassy in Kinshasa, DRC, has been attacked by protesters, with chairs, desks, and curtains looted.

The confirmation follows a video that has gone viral showing Locals forcing their way into the Embassy offices today Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

Oryem says that Embassy staff are in hiding but safe adding that they are living in fear. He also advises Ugandans to avoid DRC until further notice.

Uganda’s Embassy is not the only one that has come under attack following the M23 rebels’ control of Goma. The French Embassy has not only been looted but set ablaze.

This comes after M23 rebels claimed control of Goma, displacing thousands and escalating regional concerns with Kinshasha residents going on protest apparently targeting Embassies of countries they think are sympathetic to the M23 rebels.
