MBALE CITY

Mbale Resident City Commissioner has sounded a stern warning against UPE Head teachers who chase pupils out of school over what she calls illegitimate extra fees

Asumin Nasike sounded the warning on Monday, 3rd February, 2025 as students started reporting to schools for the first term of academic year, 2025.

Nasike urges head teachers of primary but under government aid not to charge any child for their arrangements made under PTA.

“Should you not heed to the directive of the president, I will have no option but to arrest you to make sure that we enforce the directive of the president,” warns Nasike.

“I therefore warn you in advance that I don’t want to see any child or any student or a pupil move out of class because of the charges that you impose on them for them to lose lessons which they are supposed to attend because government has taken care of their being at school.” She adds.

The RCC argues that Teachers are being paid salaries, classrooms are constructed saying that if the Head teachers have any arrangements with the parents, they should not chase children out of school.
