MBALE CITY
Mbale City has today Wednesday, 19th February, 2025 issued an official statement regarding allegations that two public plots of land have been sold by council authorities.
The plots in question are part of the North Road Primary School playing field and the land where the Mbale Magistrate Court is situated, which previously housed the offices of the Mbale enforcement officers.
Councilors, who preferred to remain anonymous, claimed that the school authorities and Mbale City leaders sold the land. They accused the city authorities of having a “bad heart” for selling public land instead of protecting it.
However, James Kutosi, the Mbale City Public Relations Officer today denied any knowledge of the land being sold.
He emphasized that public land cannot be sold without the approval of the city council and that the allegations lack evidence.
Asumin Nasike, the Mbale Resident City Commissioner, urged councilors to provide evidence of the alleged land sale, promising to investigate the matter.
Juliet Wakoli, the head teacher of North Road Primary School, also denied the allegations, stating that the fenced plot is used for agriculture and science practical work by students.
She encouraged councilors to seek accurate information from her office instead of spreading false information.
