UTC Elgon Shines at National Tertiary Games 2025, Bags 9 Trophies

Uganda Technical College (UTC) Elgon emerged as the overall winner in the 7th edition of the National Intercollegiate Tertiary Institutions Games 2025 held at Kibuli Core Primary Teachers’ College on Tuesday, 15th April, 2025.

 

The college bagged an impressive nine trophies across various disciplines including football, basketball, volleyball, netball, handball, and mind games such as Mweso, Scrabble, Chess, and Draft.

 

UTC Elgon won top positions in categories such as Overall winner trophy, Basketball (Boys), Netball (Boys), Mweso (Girls), Scrabble (Girls), Chess (Girls), and Handball (Girls), among others.

 

The Sports Tutor, Hussein Gwadya expressed his excitement saying, “This event had many disciplines and Hand games including, Football, netball, volleyball, athletics, woodball, and mind games such as Drafts, Chess, Mweso, and Scrabble.”

 

He said “Our team participated in all and emerged winners because of teamwork, dedication and commitment. I’m thankful to the players, staff, coaches, and our administration for the great support.”

 

Peter Welikhe one of the students who participated, appreciated the team and leadership saying, “it’s been a great experience saying they will work even harder to defend trophies next year.”

 

The Principal of UTC Elgon, Francis Wanani Mwisaka praised the students for their discipline and commitment. “This achievement shows the power of unity and dedication.  As management, we’re proud and have resolved to continue supporting sports, we aim to remain number one every year,” he noted.

 

To celebrate the victory, UTC Elgon held a triumphant procession through the streets of Mbale City today Wednesday, 16th April showcasing their dominance in the tournament.
