NRM supporters in Entebbe Municipality who turned up to vote party leaders were on May 19,2025 shocked after they were told that the contesters for the various posts were unopposed.
Those who went through unopposed include Ex-mayor Steven Kabuye (chairperson NRM Entebbe Municipality), Kasozi Kiruweru (Vice chairperson), Figo Edrisa Matovu (NRM spokesman), and Senfuka Tamuzadde (representative of elderly persons).
They were declared unopposed by the party Registrar Salongo Kalule. However, NRM party voters accuse their leaders of ring fencing their party positions and manipulating the party electoral body to declare them unopposed.
The party spokesman who also went through unopposed, Edrisa Figo Matovu, told this reporter that he is grateful that they have not encountered any violence ever since they began electing structural leaders right from the LC1 level up to the municipality level.
Mr. Matovu revealed that the party’s focus is to form a formidable team that will help to wipe out the opposition candidates in the 2026 general elections.
He noted that 22 out of the 24 villages in Entebbe Municipality are run by NRM LC1 chairpersons.
