MBALE CITY

The Mbale Resident City Commissioner (RCC), Asumin Nasike, has suspended the vetting exercise of the Malare Parish Development Model (PDM) group beneficiaries, scheduled to take place in Malare Ward, Industrial City Division, Mbale City.

The suspension that was effected on Monday, 9th June, 2025 was due to alleged irregularities in the vetting process, with the PDM SACCO leader accused of including relatives, friends, and in-laws on the beneficiary list, while excluding other community members.

The RCC noted that the Malare PDM SACCO had delayed the vetting exercise, which in turn delayed the disbursement of funds to their account.

Kharona Namubiru, the Mbale City PDM focal person, has directed the Malare PDM SACCO leaders to inform all community members and reorganize another vetting meeting, which will be supervised by the RCC and her office.

Some members of the Malare PDM SACCO, including Silaji Musamali and Khariate Watata, have welcomed the suspension, stating that it will help ensure that genuine poor people are registered to benefit from the program.

They alleged that their SACCO leaders had included rich people, relatives, and friends on the PDM list, but the RCC’s intervention will address this issue.
