MASAKA: Police Arrests Man for Setting Fire on 14 Year Old Daughter over Shs5000

The police in Masaka have in custody one Senabulya Daniel, aged 36, who burnt his 16 year-old daughter, Namwanje Faith in the month of April 2025.

 

He has been on the run since then up to yesterday, 11 August 2025, when he was arrested in areas of Kyanamukaaka in Masaka District.

 

Senabulya is said to have tied the girl, hang her up a tree and lit a fire under her accusing her of stealing his Shs5,000. According to Namwanje, her father fled the scene leaving the lower parts of her body burning. She says, she managed to untie herself, ran to find water and poured it on her body.

 

Senabulya was later to come back home and discovered the Shs5,000 was actually there. He then took the daughter to a nearby health facility where she was given first aid before being referred to Villa Maria Hospital.

 

Major General, Proscovia Nalweyiso however, intervened taking over the treatment of the girl who is currently receiving treatment at Nakasero Hospital, Kampala City.

 

Violence is defined under article 19 of the Convention on the Rights of Children to mean all forms of physical or mental violence, injury and abuse, neglect or neglect treatment, maltreatment or exploitation, including sexual abuse.
