The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Elections Tribunal on Tuesday, 12th August, 2025 upheld the victory of Massa Moses as the party’s official flag bearer for Elgon County, Bulambuli District, following the dismissal of a petition filed by the incumbent Member of Parliament, Mudimi Wamakuyu Nyansio.

In its ruling, the Tribunal found no merit in Mudimi’s petition, which had sought to overturn the primary election results on grounds of alleged irregularities. After reviewing the evidence and submissions from both sides, the panel concluded that the election was conducted in accordance with the NRM’s electoral guidelines and that Massa’s win reflected the will of the party members in the constituency.

The decision clears the way for Massa to represent the NRM in the upcoming 2026 general elections, setting the stage for a potentially heated contest for the Elgon County parliamentary seat.

Following the ruling, Massa expressed gratitude to the party leadership and voters, pledging to unite supporters ahead of the national polls. “This victory is not mine alone it belongs to all the people of Elgon County who believe in progress and service,” he said.

Meanwhile, sources close to Mudimi indicated that the outgoing MP is consulting his team on the next political steps, though it remains unclear whether he will contest as an independent.

The NRM Electoral Tribunal’s decision is final within the party’s structures, marking the end of internal disputes over the Elgon County flag bearer position.
